An international OEM specializing in high-end, sustainable washroom solutions needed a qualified manufacturing partner to produce a large, complex stainless steel component for a luxury public restroom feature. They partnered with Vollrath Manufacturing Services (VMS) to engineer and manufacture the custom component, enabling a successful first-to-market product launch.

A leading OEM of premium restroom accessories required a manufacturing partner to support the custom design and production of a large exterior component for a new product line.	The OEM needed a supplier capable of forming stainless steel to precise specifications without compromising surface quality. The large decorative cover required advanced forming techniques and flawless finishing.	After nearly two years of stalled progress, VMS provided engineering support and manufacturing expertise to move the project forward and enable a successful product launch.

The OEM initially explored outsourcing design and manufacturing but faced challenges meeting tooling, safety, and aesthetic requirements. After revisiting the project, they selected VMS based on its collaborative engineering approach and problem-solving capabilities.

VMS engineers developed multiple prototypes to refine the design of the product’s exterior “skirt,” ensuring it met strict requirements for size, curvature, seamless construction, and edge finishing.

Stainless steel presents unique forming challenges due to its strength and sensitivity to surface defects. Leveraging deep draw stamping expertise, VMS produced a four-foot-wide, seamless component using only two deep draws. This represents one of the largest parts manufactured using this process in company history.
